What Is a Diamond Cut?

A diamond’s cut is one of the most important factors influencing its beauty. Unlike color and clarity, which are naturally occurring characteristics, a diamond’s cut is determined by the precision and craftsmanship used to shape and polish the stone. A well-cut diamond allows light to enter the stone, reflect internally, and return to the eye as exceptional brilliance. Gemologists evaluate a diamond’s cut based on several important factors, including proportions, symmetry, polish, brilliance, fire, and scintillation. For standard round brilliant diamonds, GIA uses five cut grades: Excellent, Very Good, Good, Fair and Poor. Fancy-shaped diamonds are evaluated differently, with particular attention to proportions, symmetry, polish and overall visual performance.

The Luscious Standard for Exceptional Cut

For round brilliant centre diamonds, Luscious Diamonds selects stones with an Excellent cut grade. For fancy shapes, we carefully assess proportions, polish, symmetry and overall beauty to meet the Luscious Standard.

What Is Diamond Color?

Diamond color measures the absence of color within a white diamond. The internationally recognized color scale ranges from D to Z, with D representing the highest level of colorlessness. Diamonds are commonly grouped into the following categories: D-F: Colorless G-J: Near Colorless K-M: Faint Color N-R: Very Light Color S-Z: Light Color

The Luscious E Color Standard: Exceptional Rarity

At Luscious Diamonds, every center stone meets our E Color requirement. An E-color diamond belongs to the exclusive colorless category and represents one of the highest color grades available. Its crisp, bright, icy-white appearance creates a refined aesthetic that enhances brilliance and maximizes the reflection of light. By selecting only E-color diamonds, we maintain a consistently luxurious standard across every collection.

What Is Diamond Clarity?

Diamonds can contain internal characteristics known as inclusions and external characteristics known as blemishes. These features vary from stone to stone and are evaluated according to their number, size, position, nature and visibility. Clarity grades evaluate the number, size, position, and visibility of these characteristics. The standard clarity scale includes: FL: Flawless, IF: Internally Flawless, VVS1-VVS2: Very, Very Slightly Included, VS1-VS2: Very Slightly Included, SI1-SI2: Slightly Included, I1-I3: Included Most inclusions are microscopic and invisible without magnification.

The Luscious VVS Standard: Exceptional Purity

At Luscious Diamonds, every center stone is selected with a VVS clarity grade. Even under 10x magnification, the inclusions within a VVS diamond are extremely difficult to identify. To the naked eye, these diamonds appear exceptionally clean, preserving the stone’s transparency and allowing light to travel freely throughout the crystal. The result is remarkable brilliance, exceptional purity, and a visibly refined appearance.

What Is Diamond Carat?

Carat is the standard unit used to measure a diamond's weight. One carat equals 200 milligrams. Many people assume that a higher carat weight automatically means a better diamond, but size alone doesn't determine a diamond's beauty or value. A diamond's overall appearance is influenced by the balance between all four characteristics: cut, color, clarity, and carat weight. Two diamonds with the same carat weight can look remarkably different depending on how they are cut and the quality of their proportions.
